A lovely chic bag!,
I bought this when it was one of the black friday deals. I wasn’t sure of it simply because it’s a shoulder bag and that was my only concern. When I unpacked it, I was super pleased. Yes, it is a shoulder bag but the handles aren’t so long that you can’t carrit it like a grad bag. This is how I will be using it. I have the Joanne in black coated too and must say it’s a really nice look. Unlike previous reviews I do not think this effect lessens the bag at all. Because it has a slightly grainy look to the finish, it doesn’t shine like a pvc bag or bin liner would! As I have many kipling bags, this certainly passes my test:
1 – key chain
2 – two large inner compartments that easily hold an A4 pad, books, make up bag, scarf, brolly, bottles etc. The opening is perfect as some are narrower at the top.
3 – middle compartment (separates the two large inners mentioned above) with zip – perfect ot keep your brownie purse in!
4 – phone pocket and pen holders
5 – front pocket under the kipling logo – perfect for tickets/ passes etc
A previous review mentioned that the zip on the complete bag opening doesn’t go all the way to the edge. This is true, there is approx and inch gap on either side but on the side where the zip finished is a stud so you can fasten it. This is far too small an opening to let water in or someone’s pick pocketing hand so I wouldn’t worry about that. Most bags this style don’t have the zip, but rather a thin flap! Overall I am super pleased with this considering I would never go for a shoulder bag.

So glad I ordered this bag. It is a great size, fits loads in and has been greatly admired by everyone who has seen it. It is the first Kipling City bag I have bought, I usually go for the basic range, but I doubt it will be the last. Prefer the monkey on this bag to the usual fluffy ones.

Received my bag today – less 16 hours after ordering. RRP is £106 and it was a black friday bargain for £29.
It’s a great sized shoulder bag – big enough to hold everything you need but without looking like an overnight bag. The central zip compartment divides the bag well and should hopefully avoid the problem of everything sinking to the bottom! A decent sized phone pocket and key clip are great features too, as is the light coloured lining.
I actually bought this to serve as my changing bag – none of the ‘proper’ changing bags are really my style, or they are huge and therefore too heavy when full. They are also often very expensive. I wanted something that would look like a handbag but be practical too and this seems to fit the bill.
There’s just enough room for a small changing pad, wipes, a couple of nappies, a change of clothes and bottle holder on one side with space for a snack and beaker for my toddler and all the usual junk from my handbag on the other side.
I wasn’t sure what ‘coated black’ would look like but its actually rather nice – not too shiny and plastic looking which was my fear but its slightly textured and catches the light so is a little bit different. Feels a bit odd but will hopefully repel splashes and marks!
For less than £30, I am really rather pleased, another quality bag from Kipling.
